Custom orthotics are devices that are designed to better align the foot and ankle in order to boost their efficiency and function. These devices look like insoles only that they are custom made to suit your feet. The purpose of these devices is to help enhance alignment of your feet. By realigning the foot and ankle, custom made orthotics can really help to get rid of strain and stress throughout the body. The orthotics, once customized for your foot, can fit perfectly just like the ordinary insoles. You will have to provide an accurate imprint of your feet in order to have the orthotics customized for you.
Body braces are designed to provide proper support on the upper and lower backs. They can assist with pain relief or helping your body to recover from an injury. Most people who wear body braces have suffered spine and back injuries, muscle sprains, fractures and dislocations. The braces are designed to immobilize certain parts of the body so as to promote healing and prevent pain. A doctor may recommend orthopedic braces if you are in need of bone and muscle support. This support may be required after undergoing surgery in order to promote faster healing.
There are different types and sizes of body braces. There are orthopedic braces that are meant to be used on the arms, legs, feet, upper or lower backs. There are also upper body braces that support the fingers, wrists, elbows and hands. Others are meant to support the back, neck and shoulder area. The type of body braces ideal for a patient needs to be carefully evaluated depending on the severity of their condition. The doctor will also advice on the period of time to wear the orthopedic braces in order to experience healing.
You may be required to wear compression stockings if you suffer from a condition such as edema, thrombosis or phlebitis. The garment is designed to compress the limb therefore restricting venous pressure and relieving heavy and aching legs.
Compression stockings can be used to help boost circulation and also prevent the formation of blood clots especially on the lower areas of the leg.
The stockings increase arterial pressure which causes more blood to travel back to the heart and less on the lower area of the feet.
